Riot Scene
while browsing I found this really interesting photo taken of an especially long riot. It lasted so long that both sides maintained a 'battle line' while members of their groups slept. The more I do research for this script the longer I want to make it. As the story itself will be quite a slow affair I would want to add a few action scenes where the protagonist gets caught in one of the cities many riots. I think it would be a really exciting scene to watch as the mayhem takes over the story.

Riot police
I found this really nice photo of some riot police. I could not fully identify where they were from but I really liked the masks that they were wearing. They fit nicely with my plan for having faceless police enforcing the goverments laws. I will try and mimick this design.

Josh Agle
It was while working on this project that I rediscovered the art of Josh 'Shag' Agle. I really like his retro look and wanted to capture a similar sort of feel with my work. It was after seeing this stuff again that I started concidering a cartoony style for my animation.

The Hive City
I got alot of inspiration for the design of the city from two sources. One being the film metropolis the other being the wargame Necromunda, both of which are devided into many different levels with the poorest citizens being forced to the bottom and the richest at the top.

Homeless
There will be alot of homeless people throughout the city. I wanted to capture the look of people who live their day to day lives entirely on the streets.

China Town
I looked at alot of shots of chinatown for inspiration for the 'Level 1' area of my city. I really like the overcrowded very 'lived in' look to the area. Especially with all of the shops and stalls.

Shots from films
This is a collect of inspirational shots from films that I watched recently. I found that things such as colour pallet and shot set up to be quite inspiring.
This is an iconic shot from the film brazil. I really love the ominous look of the scene, even out of context it looks terrifying and in the context of the film it is quite a horrific place.

The shot of the protagonist after he has had his mind destroyed is quite an evocative one.

The Thief in the road has a good look to him. He looks very desperate and looks alot like I imagine many of the citizens of the city in my story to look.

I really like the creepy robotics man from One point O

Propoganda
Here were some funny posters I found when looking for some inspiration. Some have incredibly to the point messages, I really wanted to capture that with my own posters. I especially like the "Lets nuke 'em first" slogan.
